Industrial Espionage May Cost You Your Job or Your Business! I could hardly believe one of my customers last month when I was told what an employee of theirs had done. He'd been working there for three weeks and things seemed to be going just fine. He'd been getting along with his fellow workers, showing up for work on time, doing what he was told -- he was contributing to the business. Then the almost unbelievable happened. He tried to e-mail intellectual property (including schematics, plans and other sensitive materials) out of the building to a remote address. Unbelievable. He was sending the most valuable, sensitive and private information the company had -- to profiteer friends of his! This is exactly the type of thing we track, and we can stop. It was the hard way for my client to find out, but as it turns out, espionage is pretty common. The FBI estimates that every year billions of dollars are lost to competitors via industrial espionage nationwide and tens of millions are lost in every State every Year.
