About the Product
NetSquealer is the culmination of over 15 years of computer monitoring technology, originally developed to provide security and monitoring for critical online businesses including online lottery and health care applications.
Mainstream Technology Group, the original developers of the core technology, have been delivering customized Internet IT solutions for small-to-medium business for approximately 15 years. Having served more than 5,000 businesses, Mainstream's reach has been felt world-wide, but has been felt most in the North-East region of the United States. Their customers' security needs not being met by existing solutions and seeing a need for stronger business solutions in the Network Security field, Mainstream started developing customized unified network security systems for their clients. These initial security systems became a platform for the security and monitoring solutions delivered to this day.
The Internet and E-mail have made computer networks much more vulnerable to security threats ranging from pranks, to malicious damage, to espionage. Recently, new Industry practices and government regulations, such as HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, have upped the ante, requiring certain data to be properly secured and protected. These factors have caused heightened awareness about computer network security and have caused a surge in demand for products to protect businesses and individuals from these threats and legal liabilities. It seems like everyone is hanging up a "security expert" shingle.
Seeing this new demand for a security monitoring system reaching far beyond the capabilities of old firewall-style systems designed to keep hackers out, Mainstream realized that it had to do something drastic to help its clients. Five years ago Mainstream again set the lead by taking its mature security monitoring products and focusing them on enterprises that already had network and computer security products, but were forced to move ahead. These Mainstream products have been successfully used in business and industry for half a decade, but there was still something missing from the marketplace -- ease of use and true turn key products that actually save companies money.
This is where NetSquealer comes in. Mainstream contracted with providers of user-friendly, large-capacity database applications to help develop a product that could not only monitor what employees are doing, but is easy to use and easy to upgrade as new threats and technologies emerged. What was needed was something that, unlike firewalls and keystroke monitors, actually understood and unlocked the higher-level protocols such as those provided by AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Mail and even the ubiquitous SMTP email protocol.
Thus was born NetSquealer. The industry leading, state of the art monitoring system that actually saves money and increases profits for businesses, governments and enterprises of all sizes.
